The Diocese of Missouri is one of the 113 dioceses of the Episcopal Church in the United States, which itself is a part of the Anglican Communion. There are 49 congregations in the Diocese; 33 parishes and 16 missions. In 2001, there were 14,598 baptized members. The Rt. Rev. George Wayne Smith was elected bishop coadjutor in November 2001 and was consecrated March 2, 2002. He succeeded the Rt. Rev. Hays H. Rockwell on June 6, 2002.
