Services for Congregations
List a Position
A congregation or institution may post a position on CDO’s Positions Open Bulletin. To list a position:
1. Contact your Transitions/Diocesan Deployment Officer to obtain the Parish/Institution Search Request Form.
2. Submit the form to your diocesan bishop/DDO for authorization and signature.
3. The DDO will enter the position on the CDO database or will ask CDO to do so.
4. CDO will publish the position in the Positions Open Bulletin (POB).
Once published, the position listing will be available:
- To all CDO registrants who search the Positions Open Bulletin.
- In an electronic version (PDF) published weekly on the CDO website.
- In a printed version mailed monthly to CDO registrants on request for $35/year.

Create and Publish Position Profile
After data on the Parish/Institution Search Request Form is entered into the database, a Position Profile is created.
Search CDO Database
After the Position Profile is created the DDO or CDO will search the database for candidates who best match the criteria on the Position Profile. CDO sends the Personal Profiles of candidates to the bishop’s office. Upon review, the bishop’s office submits the Personal Profiles to the Search Committee Chair, adding any other Profiles that appear to be a "good fit.”
The policy established by the Board for Church Deployment is to search the CDO files without regard to race, marital status, age or sex, except to further by positive action the deployment of women and minorities. To that end, the CDO will ensure that search results include representative numbers of women and minorities. For more information, check CDO Policies and Procedures.
