The Girl's Friendly Society (GFS) is an international, non-profit organization affiliated with the Episcopal Church, for girls and young women. The purpose of GFS is to provide a support system for girls-helping them grow and mature into productive, healthy adulthood. Through a broad agenda focused on worship, service to others, study and recreation, GFS helps its members develop their talents and skills and gain the self-esteem and confidence necessary for coping in a complex adult world. Founded in 1875, GFS has more than 600 members in the United States, scattered among dozens of local branches nationwide. Girls between the ages of 7 and 21, of any religion, race or nationality are welcome to join GFS. By continually adapting its programs and activities to the needs of young women. GTS offers both the structure and adult support so necessary to a young girl's life. This includes a supportive peer-group outside the school and an invitation to spiritual growth and awareness.
