AsiaPacific

The Asia Program Officer works in close cooperative relationship with our partners in the Asian and Pacific Region and works to develop shared goals which pool the time, talent and treasures of each relationship.  Some examples of relationships are:

The Amity Foundation

Companion Diocesan Relationships:

Diocese of Taiwan and the Diocese of Osaka, Japan and Diocese of Westminster Canada

Diocese of Nevada and the Diocese of Santiago, Philippines
Diocese of Utah and the Diocese of Mytkyina, Myanmar
Diocese of Western North Carolina and the Diocese of Durgapur, North India

The Partnership Center has devotes portions of the budget to the provinces of Asia.

The Asia and the Pacific Region Office also coordinates ecclesiastical missions and responsibilities throughout regions in China, the Episcopal Diocese of Taiwan and the Episcopal Church in Micronesia (Guam). Mr. Peter Ng is the Program Officer for Asia and the Pacific Region in the Partnership Center and can be reached at: png@episcopalchurch.org

The Amity Foundation, an independent Chinese voluntary organization, was created in 1985 on the initiative of Chinese Christians to promote education, social services, health, and rural development from China’s coastal provinces in the east to the minority areas of the west.

From Covenant to Companionship

The Most Rev. Katherine Jefferts Schori, announced, in her Sermon at General Convention’s Opening Eucharist, that the  Episcopal Church in the Philippines “will present a gift to our church in gratitude for our continuing covenant relationship, as a sign of the strong and growing heart in that Church, eager to reach out to others in love. It is a sacrificial gift, and it will bring abundant life to both donor and recipient.” Thus was the ECP transformed from being a missionary church to an autonomous province; from being a receiving church to a giving church.
