New Resource
Tue, 24 Aug 2010

The following news release crossed my email desktop today. As a Minnesota Episcopalian I have been blessed with Minnesota Public Radio and have listened to Krista Tippett's Speaking of Faith® program from its infancy. This new resource may or may not be what is best for your congregation, but it looks like an opportunity to engage across some generational lines within the congregation with fresh perspectives and new material. If you choose to try it we would love to know what you think! Use the comments feature on the blog or send me an email bskov@episcoaplchurch.org. From Church Publishing, Inc. New York, New York - As part of a unique new partnership between a publisher and weekly radio broadcast, Church Publishing Incorporated (CPI) has developed and released a series of new, online church-group resources in conjunction with the popular radio program, Speaking of Faith® with Krista Tippett, produced by American Public Media.Titled Speaking of Faith® for Small Groups™, the new program resources are designed for high school, young adult, and adult study groups and revolve around topical, interfaith conversations and interviews conducted by Krista Tippett on previously broadcast programs. Four modules of Speaking of Faith® for Small Groups™ are now available, including: Sustainable Faith: God, the Environment and Human ResponsibilityEinstein's God: Science, Faith and the Life of WonderSpiritual Heroes: Women and Men on the Frontiers of FaithLiving Islam: Beauty, Truth, CompassionThe modules can be previewed and purchased exclusively at www.churchpublishing.org/speakingoffaith

Making a Difference in the Life of a Child
Tue, 10 Aug 2010

I returned to my home/office in Minnesota from a pilgrimage to the Holy Lands approximately 48 hours ago. I think I've recovered from sleepless travel, and the temps in Minnesota are rivaling those we weathered in Jerusalem, but I'm still feeling disoriented regarding my surroundings; the people, the food, my freedom of movement . . . .The blog that was published by fellow pilgrim, Jessica Bodford, is excellent. If you're curious please click here to read of our faithful and enlightening journey. In catching up on numerous emails and reading updates I found a not-so-little story from two newspapers in Montana and Wyoming about a camp for homeless children. This is yet another example of one of the many ways the Episcopal Church continues to make a difference in the lives of children. Click here to follow the link I discovered with the help of our Public Affairs Officer, Neva Rae Fox. My hat is off to Wyoming Wilderness Camp and Camp Director and collegue Pat Walsh, and my heart is full of gratitude for their faithful and creative ministry. Please share your stories of how your ministry makes the difference in the life of a child!

Pilgrimage
Fri, 23 Jul 2010

I have the tremendous blessing of joining several youth and young adults on a joint pilgrimage between Province IV Youth Ministry and Kanuga to The Holy Lands over the next two weeks. Jessica Bodford of Kanuga staff has already begun a blog that you might visit to follow us. Check out Into the Holy Lands for updates. She has done a wonderful job of pre-pilgrimage blogging including research on all manner of aspects in preparation.Members of the Formation and Vocation Ministries Team of the Episcopal Chutrch Center are rotating through summer travel and vacation cycles so that we always have office coverage. Don't hesitate to email or call. Team Associate Valerie Harris has everything under control and will happily refer your inquiry to a helpful staff member if you can't find the person you thought you needed. The new electronic communication from the Youth Ministries Office is off my desk and rests with our experts in Communications. It is my hope and prayer that you have received your transmission of EpiscoYouth Network News before I return to the office on August 10th. This will only happen if you are on our Diocesan Youth Ministries distribution list. Once we are in publication mode anyone will be able to opt in as a subscriber. I'll post more about that next month.Have a blessed end of summer!
