There are more than 42 million refugees and displaced people worldwide, and their numbers are growing, even as camps spill over and face shortages of basic provisions. Because the uprooted generally have little political clout, the Episcopal Church raises its voice on their behalf.

The tradition of our nation has been to welcome those fleeing desperate situations to our shores. Episcopal Migration Ministries insists that the needs of the uprooted here and abroad remain the concern of our government and all Americans. And so, we support our colleagues in the Episcopal Office of Government Relations in Washington in pressing for a generous refugee admissions policy and comprehensive immigration reform.

We work on behalf of the most vulnerable in response to the Gospel mandate and call of our Church to seek justice and dignity for every human being.
