Most of us would say that we are not racist, but we have all suffered the embarrassment of unintentionally offending someone of another race. Where did the thought behind what you said come from? Is that a sign that you are racist, or was it the result of our general lack of awareness of how a history of racism still influences the way we think, act and live?
The Anti-Racism Training model of the Episcopal Church is designed to make us all more aware of how society's racist past still haunts us today. Through self-examination and sharing our stories, we come to learn more about how our behavior affects others, and how our society, institutions and churches affect how we think and feel about others. After anti-racism training, you will never watch the news the same again!
