Isaiah 61:2b-4 In a spirit of shared commitment to common works of compassion, justice and renewal as visioned by the Prophet Isaiah, the networks of Jubilee Ministry, Episcopal Community Services in America and National Episcopal Health Ministries are combining resources to host a joint conference. Their network membership, the broader Episcopal Community and its friends are invited to participate in a special conference April 27-30, 2010 hosted by the Diocese of Newark in Newark, New Jersey. Our Presiding Bishop, The Most Rev. Dr. Katharine Jefferts Schori, will deliver the first of three keynote addresses as these ministries of the Episcopal Church renew their commitment to poverty alleviation at home and abroad. Keynote Addresses: The Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop Chuck Fluharty, founder of the Rural Policy Research Institute Wayne Muller, author, therapist and ordained minister Book Review of "A Life of Being, Having, and Doing Enough" Come to this collaborative event which will be THE Jubilee Ministry 2010-2012 triennial gathering Wednesday morning, April 28th through Friday afternoon, April 30th, Newark, NJ Special presentations will include: Documentary film and discussion with leadership of the Jubilee Park and Community Center, Dallas Texas Panel discussion on “The Effects of Poverty on Cultural Identity.” Offered by the staff officers of the Episcopal Church Center Act now, the deadline for guaranteed hotel reservations is April 12th Called to Serve Conference on Domestic Poverty AlleviationCalled to Serve has been designed to clarify some of the causes and effects of poverty as well as potential solutions to poverty as experienced in communities across the United States. Participants from countries outside of the United States will benefit from these conversations as well. Registration begins now and will continue until the day of the event. However, room reservations must be made by April 12th, so don’t delay. Registration is $150 and special hotel rates of $99 per night have been negotiated for single or double occupancy at the Robert Treat Hotel.
